Remicade Rocks!! | Arthritis Information

Hi all,

I had my Remicade infusion yesterday and today I feel so very good!!  What a difference a day can make.  I've been in pain that has been increasing for the past week.  My rheumatologist has upped my schedule from 8 wks to 7 wks because it seems that I need it by then.

It's funny how you go to sleep on the day of Remicade...and wake up the next morning feeling like a new person.

Just wanted to share my joy and maybe encourage others that there are better days ahead.  I know the pain will return, but right now it's being handled splendidly.  My cup runneth over!

that's great molly. Can you explain the infusion process, and did you feel relief immediately?

That is wonderful, Molly Bee!!

I hope it continues to work that great for you everytime!

Hi Molly, I'm so happy for you. I am also seeing some relief with remicade, every 4 weeks, now. Keep our fingers crossed. Lynda

WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Hi Newbb...the infusion process is rather simple.  You get the medicine delivered through an intravenous drip (infusion) in your doctor's office. The first infusion is done very slowly to make sure you are not going to have a bad reaction to Remicade.  When your vital signs remain stable (it can affect blood pressure...never has done that in my case), they increase the rate of infusion.  I sit in a comfortable recliner with reading materials and a TV/remote control.  I usually go to sleep unless I find my reading to be irresistable.  Yesterday I was given a blue fleecy blanket from the Remicade people to keep me warm during the infusion.  Since the med is refrigerated, it's possible to get cold during its administration.  When I am done, they send me on my way.  It's pretty easy...just takes some time.  Usually 2 hours for the actual infusion and another 1-2 hours for seeing my doctor in advance and/or getting labs/x-rays afterwards.  I go home and take it easy.  I usually notice relief within 1 or 2 days afterwards.  It's quite a difference.

Oh, Molly, what good news!!!

We will always take news like that! I think we all share in your joy.

Stay well!

Happy Hugs,

Nini

Thanks, Lynda and Arris!  Lynda, you take Remicade every 4 weeks?  Wow...that seems really often, but if that schedule is what keeps you feeling well, it's great.  I hope we can continue to take it indefinitely until they find something easier to take (orally) that works as well.  Best of luck with whatever gets us through it!

Good on ya Molly Bee!  Long may it continue.  It's been really encouraging reading about more than a few successes recently, and gives me (and I'm sure others) faith that there is always something new to try if things go awry!!

molly bee

your post is very encouraging I am going for my fifth infusion on Friday and so far it has not been the miracle for me that it has been for you but maybe this time will be different I know that 8 weeks is to long between infusions because I was doing much better two weeks ago yesterday afternoon I had to climb up my stairs on my hand and knees because the pain was so bad I will talk to my Dr about maybe having my next infusion sooner thanks for the encouraging news have a great day
