My tongue feels burned | Arthritis Information

It has been a fairly miserable week since my surgery last Wednesday. About
Friday, I woke up to find that my tongue felt burned. It is bright red. Has
anyone ever had this condition. I googled it but it comes up with so many
different reasons. I also had bit my tongue during surgery so it has been
swollen from that. Thanks for any info you can throw my way. I don't have any info, but I hope you feel better soon.Hi Lori, sorry you have that burning tongue.  Could it be a bit of thrush perhaps - a reaction to antibiotics?? Lori, also found this

Hi Lori, didn't realize you were having surgery, haven't been around much myself due to total knee replacement.  Call you doc about the red and sore tongue.  It could be infected and if you got an infection in the hospital then you know the consequences.  Don't put off calling.  How did you bit your tongue doing surgery?  Take care and keep us posted.  Lindy [QUOTE=Kiwilass2] Lori, also found this http://familydoctor.org/online/

Thanks for the info. I had no idea it was a syndrome, lol. If it isn't one thing
it is another. Hopefully I'll be on the other side of this situation soon. that article was very interesting. i get the sore burning tongue quite often and its awful nothing helps it go away. i am in the middle of mennopause so its probably that and the medications. thanks so much for that at least now i dont think i am crazyI had burning tongue syndrome right at the start of menopause. It was miserable! It was not red, but felt as if hot sause had been put on it. It lasted for several months and went away as suddenly as it came. Hopefully never to return again! Lin, I think I bit it while intubated. I bit clean through it though and it
hurts. Good thing tongues heal fast. I hope all is going well with your
post knee surgery phase. I don't post much anymore as I have started my
new business and am busy making box cushions for a parade home in
mid September (don't ask how I got sucked into that, lol) We are also
making the nursery bedding for this home so it is an exciting way to
introduce our product. I'll check in now and then. Take care . [QUOTE=Les131] I had burning tongue syndrome right at the start of

The menopausal link is interesting. I'm not sure what the pathopysiology is
though. I am also having other menopausal symptoms and am taking
premarin vag cream 2 x a week.
