Hope for newcomers | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone,

I understand that many on this message board suffer with fairly severe RA but I just wanted to share my good news for those of you who might be new to the disease and offer a different perspective.

I was diagnosed in Dec 2005 (probably had it a 1 1/2 before this).  I responded well to the first two things they tried (Plaquenil and MTX) and yesterday my Rheumy actually used the word "remission."  Of course I know it is drug induced remission but isn't that cool?\

He also dropped my Plaquenil from 200mg twice a day to once a day and my MTX from 12.5mg/week to 10mg/week and will keep dropping that slowly if I do well.

ANY fewer meds is okay by me.

So there is hope, I am one of the lucky ones, I know.

Jeanne

Congratulations, Jeanne! I rarely take any meds if I can avoid it, so the prospect of being on some of the heavy stuff really scares me (I'm a newbie awaiting diagnosis, so I'm just on OTC NSAIDs right now). I agree with you that the less you can be on, the more exciting that is.

Thank you for posting your news. I hope you continue to be well!
