OT-Text messaging while you’r talkin’ | Arthritis Information

Hey, am I too sensitive or is it rude for people (a certain teenager) to be textmessagin' their friends WHILE you are talking to them and they are suppose(!) to be listening?????Just wondering. LyndaI took care of that and blocked text messaging for my boys til they can pay their own cell bill. I told them the cell phones were for my convenience, not theirs. If I call and they don't answer, then they are showing me they don't need it and it gets taken away for a day. They only need reminding once in a great while.ooooooo, that's good Deb.  I'm impressed

My daughters (very much adults) do it a little, but I think they know it's offensive. But my 17 year old granddaughter does it all the time. Half the time she is so discreet, though, that you don't even know she's doing it. But I love her to pieces, it doesn't matter to me what she does as long as I see her from time to time.

OH! I got one for ya! My oldest sister is a manager. And her delivery drivers like to text. She has caught them texting while on the job. Well, she told them to put the cellphones in there pockets while they are in the building as they are there to work not text. So... she finds out that they are still texting while in the building. These boys are soo good at texting they do not even have to look at the keypad to text anymore, they just put their hand in their pocket and text.

She knows because one was standing right in front of her and text her on her cellphone. And she asked him how he done that and he told her he did not have to look at the phone to text.

I am pretty good at finding out if my students are "texting" during a lecture.  It makes me laugh that think I don't know. Heck, I have 6 kids, it is hard to fool me.  Same with cheaters, they have that "look".  When I catch someone "texting" I get out my hammer from a cupboard and place it on the front table without a word.  Of course, someone will ask what it is for and I tell them "cell phones".  Stops them every time.  I also teach some classes that have computer screens on the desks.  Trust me, I know when they are "instant messaging" each other.  Nobody takes that many notes during my lectures Mary, what do you teach?I teach at our local community college.  Medical Terminology, Anatomy and physiology, Medical coding and billing.  I made the mistake when I worked as a director in the local hospital and complained that I couldn't find anyone to work in my department.  Next thing I know I am teaching in the Health Information department.  Me an my big mouth

I have one even better, but by the way it is extremely rude.

Now to the story.  I am in my opthamologists waiting room(eyes dialating)  All of a sudden it gets to be about elevenish.  The office manager starts putting out cell phone signs.  I ask, hmmm is there anyone in particular comming that needs this.  He replys yes.  He tells me that last week during a contact lense check-up a girl got a phone call on her cell and asked the doctor to leave the room, because the conversation is private.  Gosh turn them off.  When we go to a place like that and the kids are getting seen, I always tell them I am paying for the doctor to see you not your friends.  I just shook my head in disbelief.
