Arthritis Information -sarcardosis

Never heard of it, what is it?  I have read there is something like 100 different forms of arthritis, but I am starting to think that each person has their own unique arthritic disease.  I would love to know about sarcardosis, its as good a sounding disease as my "rhupus".  Take care CathyDoes anyone here have this disease? If so do you know how long a flare up lasts and what are you doing for it.

I was just diagnosed with this and trying to find out all I can about it.

Hi Kbean, unfortunately sarcoidosis was the first auto-immune disease that I acquired.  Back in the 60's I had a routine chest xray for work (surgical nurse) and I was hospitalized immediately.  They thought it might be TB. I had a slight dry cough.  I had lung biopsies and it was diagnosed as sarcoid.  Was then put on 85mg. of Pred. with tapering over a 6 month period of time.  I've never had a recurrence.

Sarcoid doesn't come in flares.  It presents as granulomas and the lungs are the predominant area that it attacks.   Sarcoid can also be found in the other organs, brain, eyes, and skin.  Once you're in remission the chances of it coming back are slim, or so I've been told.

What have your doctors told you and what is the treatment plan?  I'm sorry that this has happened to you.  Keep us updated.  Lindy
