Can’t sleep????? | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, unable to sleep, last few nights, seems to happen in cycles so catching up with posts, thank god for this board or I would go around the twist.   Love Janie.

Jane have you considered a sleep aid for those cycles?  Perhaps your doctor could script something mild that you could use as needed.  No sleep wears your body down hon...definately not a good thing.

Peace & Love...Neasy

Hi Neasy, thanks for the prompt reply, great idea, shall ask my doc, but I know shes reluctant asI take too many drugs that put me at risk for seretonin syndrome and respirattory distress when sleeping, I already have sleep apneoa and she feels I am too risky????  Sucks - doesn't it.   As for the mobility scooter, I was incredibly lucky, my GP wrote to a local charity place, they delivered a brand new scooter to my door, insurance and rego fully paid!!  Now thats what I call lucky.  Talk to your local community groups, see if they have any schemes up and running.  Peace and love Janie. Congrats on the new scooter, hope you get some good sleep soon!

Janie, I think you will love your scooter. I was a little embarrassed when I first got mine about 2 years ago, but now, I don't know what I would do without it.

It has kept me at least somewhat independent. Are you going to get a  ramp/lift for your car? I have one and can get around town by car and take my scooter down by myself and go shopping or whatever.

I'm so glad you were able to get one!

Hugs,Nini

Janie,

I had the same sleep issue last night but mine was because I drank a pepsi before I went to bed.  Now why is it that the older we get, the less we can do the things we did when we were younger?  That would have never bothered me even 5 years ago.

I take Benedryl for my allergies, but it helps me sleep too.  I have tried over the counter sleep aids and they work good as well.  I am sure that my system will get used to them and I probably will need a script.
Nice to see you back Janie.

I use benadryl too - it's the same active ingredient as what's in many of the OTC sleep aids (diphenhydramine).  The others use doxylamine succinate, which is another sedating antihistamine in the same class as diphenhydramine. If I'm having trouble getting to sleep (usually because I drank coffee or Coke too late in the day), a couple of benadryls will often help.  And if that doesn't work, I've got plenty of work to catch up on - that usually knocks me out in less than half an hour!
