Update on ribs. | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, just thought I'd fill you in on Drs visit today.

I told her I was unable to get any good sleep due to pain in ribs and she said she wanted me to have a bone scan, I suggested that maybe there was no point as we can't do anything about it, she agreed that there was not much we could do about it, but said she would be happier knowing what the problem is just in case it is something else. So I am going for that on Friday at 12.30pm.  She told me to keep taking the endone and prescribed some temazepam to help me sleep, she said she did not want me to use it regularly just on the odd occasion if I really have trouble sleeping.  My bone mineral desitometry results were really good, so the technician who told me the hip was bad was actually incorrect so Thank God for small mercies.  However my GP says just because its not in my spine and hips does not mean it is not in my hands and feet as I have had two fractures of metatarsals in last 2 years and was diagnosed 3 years ago with osteopaenia.  She also advised me to get an exercise bike and do 5mins 3 x a day, so I am going to hire one and then pay it off if I can manage the cycling.  Just been for a fun ride on my scooter with my boys, now ready for dinner, hope you are all managing well and not in too much pain.  Thanks buddies, Janie.
hi jane, what sort of scooter do you have. i have a little electric one .i love it. I was told 3 years ago that i have osteopaenia in the spine from all the years of prednisone. it scares me to think of breaking bones from it. has the doctor changed you to celebrex or something to relace the prexige. i have a friend here in town who found it worked fantastic so she's not very happy now its off the market. i tried the exercise bike but find it hurts my knees and hips too much. my hubby has bought an ab king pro as he has AS and doesnt want to fuse any more just yet so i think i will give it a try also. all the best with your appt. friday . Cheers AllyHI Ally, thanks for your good wishes, yes my scooter is electric, really great, just have to get a shade for it as I keep getting sunburnt, even though its winter in OZ, although I don't call it winter after being brought up in the UK!!!!   I haven't had the prexige replaced as I have tried Celebrex and the other one she mentioned was Mobic?  But we got off the subject and I forgot to ask what next?

I have a feeling the exercise bike is going to do the same to me as it did to you, which is why I am hiring it first, just in case.  My fracturted right foot still isn't healed properly Ally, and I fractured it on Easter Saturday walking around the kitchen too much!!!!!!!  Oh well, life was never meant to be easy!!  Keep well and thanks, Janie.
Thanks for the update. Hope the new med helps you to sleep better.

Hope you can finally get some sleep.

Janie, am glad that you're getting the study. It will tell the doctor a lot and take some of the guessing out of the equation.  Hope the new meds work for you.  I have osteopenia and am dreading the day when things start popping and breaking.  I know it's around the corner and I'm trying to hold it off by taking calcium meds and eating calcium enriched foods.  Take care and hope you get some good sleep. Lindy
