Do your joints get warm? | Arthritis Information

when my joints start to swell, they are warm to the touch. I try to get hubby to feel the warm, but he never can feel it. He says it feels the same as the rest of my skin. I can feel the difference in where it is warm and were it is not warm.

oh yeah.. mine get  noticbly hot.. not just warm.. We first noticed about 6 years ago when my daughter was rubbing my hand and asked why it felt so warm..Mark comments on it a lot too.. In fact I get warm before I start to really hurt...its like a warning of a nasty  flare.Yep - hands and feet ON FIRE! Yes! Swollen fingers hot, normal fingers cold. Wrists too.

Its happened right from diagnosis, though I was always in denial at first 'NO, they don;t feel hot to me!' when they were undeniably warm Peds and rheums check for hot joints. Have your hubby try this - I saw an adult rheum do it to my daughter - he cupped his hand around the joint but not touching, like it would make heat build up or something. Then he pulled his hand away and touched the joint real quick. Maybe your hubby will be able to feel it then. Something fun to practice tonight LOL.

Orion!! Where have you been? How are you doing???

Yes Joonie, mine do the same....except mine don't always swell. But when I hurt, they are hot. Always. And even my DOCTORS can't always tell the difference. But I can. After all, it's MY body, I'm way more familiar with it than they are!!

Joonie my hubby can't feel any heat radiating off a joint, but I sure can.

Ok thanks guys!
