I'm going to be out of insurance soon and want to get my ducks in a row right now. Have any of you heard of Free prescriptions.com??? Have you heard of getting your prescriptions free at all?????

Publix is giving free perscritions of certtain anti biotics to but on ly the cheap common ones

I went to the site snd to start with it says u cant have perscrition coverage at all and then it still says you have to pay a fee and apply

momofthree, I don't know what your situation is, and believe me I have been in the position where we had to live without insurance for more than a year, BUT, if there is anyway at all that you can keep yourself insured you really must do it.

If you become uninsured, you lose your protections under the law regarding preexisting conditions.  With RA it is going to be extremely difficult to get covered again.  This is a huge issue, so do what ever you can to keep your coverage.

humira has an assistance program that if you dont have insurance and you are within their income limits you can get a year of free Humira you can reapply every year and get it as long as you qualify.  That has been the only way that I have been able to be and stay on Humira.  Look into whether or not the companies that make your other meds offer that as well.  Alot of the drug manufacturers are doing that now.  Now the pred and Vicoden do not have that ability since they are generic but they are very inexpensive

I just called that number and some woman on their told me yes you can get your scripts for free or a discount. And I did ask about a fee and she said no. I dont know who I was talking to but maybe she needs to get more education.

Hillhoney: I will try to keep my insurance but it will be hard since my STX husband is going to drop me. I will keep looking around Im sure there has to be something out there. I cant imagine someone in my condition not ever being able to get any scripts.

My family tried to get me to go see that doctor and get my meds, when I had no insurance for a few months, but I told them that a regular dr could not RX my RA meds. So, my mom paid for me to go to her GP to see what he could do for me and he gave me MTX, who knew a GP could RX MTX? Not me!

Maybe they have some kind of community program like that in your area.

Oh and at the S.A.F.E building where the old foogy apartments are they will pay for your meds, if you do not have the money to pay for them.

Oh and if you get a letter from the company that you worked for saying you had insurance, you will not  be considered pre-extisting. Hubby's sent us a letter in the mail to give to another insurance company to prove we had health insurance, and I did not have any trouble getting health insurance and was not considered "pre-exisiting" and did not have that 6 month wait for them to pick up the bill. I do not think I have ever had the pre-exisiting going on with the health insurance. *shurgs shoulders*

What a nightmare for you guys having to deal with all this crap and then some! Sorry.... nothing positive to say, have read the above with horror.

Yeah it is a nightmare alright. I just called about a free clinic in our area and they told me that it is every wednesday of the month. She said the line-up is at 5:30 am and it's on a first come first serve basis. LINE-UP!!!!

If this is a matter of loosing coverage through divorce, you really need to discuss this with your attorney.  You could continue coverage under COBRA off of your ex-hubby's policy.

Please weigh every option there is before you let your coverage lapse.  If you lose your insurance, will you be able to become employed full-time and get coverage through an employer?    Most benefit plans require a person to be a full-time employee before they qualify for benefits.

I know...I feel the same way. Sometimes people take that as a critisism but I just cringe when I read about these insurance issues. I really feel sorry for people having these problems.

Hillhoney I do work fulltime but I can't afford the insurance through my employer on my own. It's very expensive.

what meds are you on that you would be unable to afford? Are you able to qualify for medicade?  I would do what hillhoney suggested talk with your attorney and find out if you are able to get put on COBRA, its going to be expensive but temporarly it might be worth it.  Or, are you able to get your own individual ins? Since your ins hasnt lasped you shouldnt have to worry about the pre-existing bs

I understand.  And I don't mean to intrude.  The whole system is maddening.

I would just like to help you figure out a way to keep some kind of coverage, because I have been through it.  When my husband became unemployed a few years ago, we couldn't afford COBRA and had to live without insurance.  I was terrified that something would happen to one us that would require a hospital stay - I lived on the edge the entire time.  It's no way to live!

Being nosey again, is it possible change jobs to a company that has a better benefit plan?
