How many pills total do you take a day?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I take anywhere from 1-20+ pills a day. Just depends on if I remember to take my multi-vitamins and calcium (of lately I have not been taking) and if I take IBU (4- 2-4Xday).
I have my days were I only take pred. Then I have days were I am a good 'ittle patient and take all my meds, PLUS multi-vitamins.
I just experiment to see what helps and what does not seem to help. Like the muscle relaxer and my new med Amitriptylin. I take them when I feel I need them.
If I were to include my calcium and multivitamin, I take around 40 pills a day.... wow, it's a lot and depressing to admit...
I haven't been "officially" diagnosed yet but I'm currently on 8mg a day of Medrol, to see how it works for me. Nothing yet!Nah... owiedeb, it is no way depressing. You are taking all those pills to make your quality of life better, and to help you feel better. Nope, not depressing.
Hi George! Good to hear from ya!
15 pills a day... GOOD GRIEF
Now that it's in remission, I've dropped about 4. So I'll only be taking about 6 natural sups a day.
About 18 total, that's counting Centrum, Folic, D, Magnesium, Potassium, and then MXT inj. once a week.  Way too many.  Lindy4 to 8 fish oil (depending on pain/inflammation level and GI tolerance)
2 naproxen 500's (enteric)
1 Prevacid
2 Metoprolol
Vitamin
3 or 4 rolaids
Coenzyme Q10
Zoloft (RX'ed for PMDD; found that it really helps with ALL pains)
As needed:
Zyrtec (allergies)
Tramadol or Vicodin
Benadryl (sleep)
On a bad day when I have to take all my prescribed pills (e.g. normal ones plus pain killers and anti-inflamms) about 20. On a normal day, about 10.
Unfortunately 31, unbelieveable?????  Janie.
Including vitamins...8 daily, 8 more (MTX) on Friday, 1 more (Fosomax) on Saturday.
Hmmm....let's see....I take synthroid (thyroid was removed), inderal (cardiomyopathy), cymbalta (cfs), folic acid, methotrexate 6 pills once a week, mobic (RA) and a multi-vitamin. That comes to....6-7 a day.
Hey Joonie,
Since I keep my meds in one of those large plastic pill dispensers, you'd think I knew right away....it's a LOT.
2 Relafen, 1 Prevacid, 1 folic acid, 2 Evoxac, Multi-Vit., Calcium Citrate (2), 2 Plaquenil, 1 baby aspirin, ok...that's 12...add 8 more on Friday of MTX and an extra one on Wed AM (Fosamax)...oops, forgot my Synthroid...so it's 13 everyday...but 21 on Fridays and "only" 14 on Wed.
that is waaay too much stuff.  Also get Remicade every 7 wks by IV.
don't want to take anything else.... I never counted all my meds before...this is kind of depressing.
awwww.... I am sorry. I did not mean to depress anyone.
I am a counter, I count just about everything, and I have to have even numbers. If not, I just feel off balanced some how. I even count how times I go pee in a day. I am weird.
I guess everyone is not a counter like me.
You did NOT make me depressed.  I shouldn't have worded it like that.  It's just that I always said I took "a lot of pills" but had never thought to count just how many.  I am borderline hypertensive and my PCP said we "could consider" meds to handle this, but I was adverse to more meds.  So I am using a daily 30-40 minute walk as my "med" to help with the blood pressure.  So far it's not working, but I've lost 5 pounds.  (lol)
Counting is cool.  You always think of innovative topics...please don't stop doing that.  :)
Well, ya are the 2nd person to say it was depressing. I know it is, but that is life, and life is sometimes depressing. I guess, me pain is making me sensitve.
Nice about the 5lb lose, not cool about the high BP. I wished the walking would work for you.
That is why I do not like to complain to dr's, they either give me more pills and/or want to send me off to the vampire cave for blood work. Either one is not nice.
it is a fact that we do take a lot of meds for our disease(s).  But if the quality of our lives are better for having taken them, then it is a reason to be HAPPY and not to be sad.  It's one of those "decisions" we can make..choose our attitude...choose our response to what is dealt us.
I am not truly worried about the blood pressure thing because I know that IF I need a med to bring it down, I'll just take it and make sure I avoid the stroke that felled my mother (another person w/RA) when I was 39 and had hoped to have her around for many more years.  I miss her still....
But....I am a reasonably healthy and active grandmother to two precious little ones myself.  Evan is 2 and Julia is 3 mos today!  So I will choose to count my blessings!
You're wonderful, Joonie.  You always come through.
I am so glad for this post. I thought I was a freak because I take so many pills. When I go to the pharmacy I come away with a big ol' bag of pills. I won't go and get a refill except when he is about to close on a Saturday nite, that is when he is least busy, as I am so embarrassed. Also, I keep my pills in my bedroom in my dresser, except my insulin, which I have to keep in the frig. My neighbors and friends do not know anything about my illnesses, thus I don't have many close friends. One of my grown children knows everything about me, she is an RN, but to the other 2, I downplay everything. My husband is supportive. Back to the "how many pills do you take?" I take 22 pills a day. It is nice to know I am not the only one out here, not that I am wishing anything bad on anyone else, but at least I have some company. I thought I was wierd.
I would like to try and get off some of them like acidplex, regalan, there are some others, can't recall them right off hand, but it would be nice to reduce the number.
Vanessa you are never alone while on this board. Believe me.
10 morning prescription pills
  5 morning vitamins & supplements
  6 evening prescription pills
  2 evening supplements
  4 pain pills throughout the day
---
27 pills per day
Guess I didn't get high enough to win the prize.
The sad thing is the ENT was talking about adding Nexium which you have to take at least an hour before you eat and then I have to take everything else with food
I do not feel sad when I take the meds.  I place them in a weekly container (one for day and one for night).
