DO TENDONS IN THE HAND EVER HEAL? | Arthritis Information

I wonder when, if ever, I'll be able to use my hand again--or at least be able to make a fist and straighten the fingers all the way.  Could someone help me with this?  They've been like this (chronically) since April. I miss my guitar.I don't know what the exact medical problem with your hand might be, but yes, many people improve and regain control of their hands. It IS possible.

sure you can regain use of your hand if the problems are being caused by inflammation and there is no damage occuring.

Have you ever been to a hand therapist?  They are very helpful in helping relieve pain as well as helping to regain function

My daughter is just now getting over a tendonitis of her right hand. She
went to OT who did some treatments on her. I think decadron was
somehow (not with needles) pushed into the space that was inflammed. It
took her about 4 months to get it mostly resolved. It still bugs her but is
much improved. Hope this helps.

I sure know about missing the guitar. I played for several years.

Now I can play bass guitar for about an hour at a time. The real bummer is when I can't even pick up my camera to take pictures. I live in Washington State, and there is an abundance of Bald Eagles to photograph. But some days...

Thanks for all the good replys.  One more question:  Do the Bouchard's nodes ever go away? Lorster, how did your daughter's fingers look?  Were they always swollen?  Like sausages? Lulu, her pointer and middle finger were swollen along with the area just
above both of those fingers. She ended up wearing an immobilizer to keep
from straining them. It really takes immobilization to get better it seems.
Tendon inflammation healing is a very slow process. Try to rest that area of
your hand if at all possible and get some agressive treatment on it. Try to
eat a diet that does not promote inflammation. Let me know if you want
further info on the treatment she got.THera-putty that the OT gave me gave me gave me back so much of my hand usage and grip strength. I can tell a difference when I don't use it for awhile.
